Who can be affected from heat waves?
Heat can affect anyone. But, its more likely to affect children, teens, elders and people with serious health problems.
Why?
People with health problems have very poor blood circulation and that affects on how they breathe. Heat makes you sweat, obviously. And people with health problems have low oxygen, it will be very hard for them to breathe and sometimes that causes death.
Why are heat waves dangerous?
During heatwaves, there is no wind to cool down the Sun’s heat. That means a huge variety of the heat gets trapped close to the ground or lower air areas. When it gets hotter, animals, plants and people suffer from heat stress.
Heatwaves cause stress on the body when its too hot. When a person can't cool down, the body temperature gets really high and they start breathing really fast. And when they get even hotter, it can cause a heat stroke which is not good.
